The Henry Altemus Company: A History and Pictorial Bibliography by Cary Sternick

The Henry Altemus Company: A History and Pictorial Bibliography by Cary Sternick. Published by the author, 2005; 10.8 x 8.3"

After looking longingly at this book elsewhere for quite a while, I found I could order it very reasonably from Cary Sternick's website. The book includes a complete history of the Company, as well as complete information for dating and identifying books, often puzzling with Altemus. It also includes the features you would expect if you are familiar with this amazing website: over 200 Altemus series, over 10,000 books, over 500 authors, over 1200 illustrations on over 100 plates. With such a complex subject there is always more information coming in, and Sternick adds updated material (and some errata)to his website, so the book and the website can be used together. I have just ordered the book and am looking forward to having a hard copy at hand, but I found his site very useful earlier this year when I was trying to date a "non-series" Altemus Black Beauty.
